Yoruba Summer Camp 2025

Session 2: July 28-August 21 | MONDAY - THURSDAY

NO FRIDAY CLASSES

Regular schools out and summer school is in! Let us introduce your child to new and fun Yoruba adventure and experiences with our Yoruba Discoveries summer camp series.

Whether you are new to Yoruba School or have had previous exposure, you sign up to any of the classes 2025 Yoruba Basics Summer Camps program is designed with children and teens in mind and doesn't assume prior Yoruba knowledge. Our series offer culturally rich content in an interactive, stimulating environment. Students learn about Yoruba culture in a fun, safe atmosphere where they can actively and comfortably participate.

Since 2012, we have been providing our Chicagoland-area students and their families a fun educational African cultural experience both in person and remotely. For 2025, we will be offering only remote learning experiences.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE:

Format: Remote Learning Monday-Thursday (10am ).

Camp runs Monday through Thursday (4 days a week)

Some classes may be combined for Virtual Field trips and Practical.

The sessions will have the format of the workshops in which students will have the opportunity to progress in and practice their language skills through activities such as arts and crafts, songs, etc.

What to Expect from the Yoruba Discoveries® Summer Camps

  • Enjoy all the benefits of knowing one of the oldest languages in the world! Yoruba boasts one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Though mostly spoken in southwest Nigeria, Yoruba is spoken in Ghana, Togo, and Benin.

  • Understand the nuances of Yoruba culture in a different way. It's not just about the jollof rice - even though Yoruba Jollof rice is the undisputed king!

  • Learn in context so you learn words, phases and expression, just as you would use them. Emphasis is on natural way of conversing.

  • There's no books to buy! All resources you need are located in your indivual learning managment system portal. here and available online from anywhere.

  • No boring long sessions! Each session is only 45 mins long, though we sometimes go over when the topic is invigorating. Class time is quite active. Expect group collaborations.

  • Class size is limited in order to enhance class participation. Our team of instructors make sure the content and activities in each class are fun, engaging and designed for maximum retention.
